Eduardo Durán Ferrer was born in Granada in 1965, into a family with a long tradition of craftsmanship, founded in 1875 by his grandfather's uncle, Benito Ferrer. His grandfather, Eduardo Ferrer, was the mentor of almost all the guitar makers in Granada, and also the guitar master of Yamaha in Japan (1966-67-68).
He started around 1982 in his father Antonio Durán's workshop.
At that time, three other people worked in his father's workshop, one of them, Rafael Moreno. He was his tutor, from whom he learned how to use the tools and the steps involved in the trade. His grandfather, Eduardo Ferrer, and his father guided him and taught him the secrets and techniques of construction. When he had mastered almost all the trade (from felling the tree, cutting it, drying the wood, selecting the best wood, and construction), he learned the last part of the craft: varnishing: this he learned in Antonio Marín Montero's workshop. And it was then that he began building guitars under his own name.
He had previously built some, but under the name Antonio Durán, in his father's workshop, under his father's supervision.
For many years now, he has been building his own guitars and is teaching his son, the fifth generation of guitar makers. Well, the first one began in 1875 with Benito Ferrer.
His idea was for a guitar to sound good, to be a balanced guitar, and this was achieved by using good woods, with the thicknesses required for each wood, since each wood requires a different thickness, depending on its hardness and other factors...
His guitars have a special sound, rich in harmonics and great volume, very comfortable to play, and with excellent craftsmanship.
